Mid-summer

So I have been reading Wisdom of Crowds and a quote from that book stuck with me:

Companies tend to pay people based on whether they do what they are expected to do. In a market, people get paid simply on what they do.

Afer reading it, I kept wondering how it applies to my current work place...

The other day, for the first time in my life, I got a hair cut from a Arab guy. After a couple of questions, I understood that he was Kurdish Iraqi from Sulemaniyah. His English was not that good, I think he mostly lacked confidence I did understand that he could speak six languages... Arabic, Kurdish, Farsi, English so I tried to ask him the other two but could not get a answer. I also deliberately avoided the political questions. Anyway, he said he wanted to go to India for vacation and was wondering if I can recommend him places. Speaking of India, I think this, according to me was the most important but under rated story last week.

I am planning a trip to London in the coming months.. I canceled my credit cards after I moved (also after they stole and used one of my cards in California) and I am trying to get a new card here since no airline accepts the "debit" card here. I still cannot figure out the banking system in this place. The surcharges and the taxes including the horrible service.. the bank opens at 10.30 closes at 5.00 and is not open on Saturday and the "Internet banking" is a joke....

Anyway, after I mentioned it was my ten year high school graduation "anniversary", one of my high school classmates actually emailed me. A good co-incidence I guess...

I changed the template to the webiste and it uses very little bandwidth now. I like the new design but I dont think that it is the best thing I have come up with. I will stick to this for sometime.

And oh.. South Korea seems to have discovered me..

I renewed my domain on June 11th and from the beginning of June, my traffic jumped almost two and a half times. At first I thought that my website has been compromised and I checked all the databases and patched all the software. Then I installed Google Analytics but I am so disappointed with the service. I find it very unreliable. While I am still trying to figure this out, I am so disappointed with my current host that I am looking around for a new one. But a whole bunch of this traffic seems to be coming from South Korea.
