November already?
Work is getting really busy now-a-days and along with all the other things that I signed myself up for, it has been a really busy time.
A bunch of travel is coming up for me both this month and next. It still depends on a number of things including my paperwork being in place but if it works out, I will have to hurry up with the tickets and the travel plans.
I am very excited though, if everything works out, I will be starting university and working side by side. It will be a very interesting challenge and we will see how it goes. I will be studying operations which is something that I wanted to do for some time. The time difference and the travel makes it even more interesting.
YouTube won the best invention of 2006 according to TIME. YouTube is not really a “invention†but more like a innovation. I think the most innovative feature of YouTube is to be able to embed a video on a webpage.
Over the last month, I have cut down my alcohol levels to something a bit manageable currently and also started the gym a bit seriously. I realized that there was a problem when I broke three of the four wine glasses. Meant that I was using them too much :P. I did get a new set though.
I am studying for a exam by APICS and it is in December. The thing is that most of the coursework I know through my work before but the terms used in the course are technical so it is a bit of effort to co-relate what these are called in the real-world and the way the text books puts them. The fact that my last employer was Japanese and Japanese companies have a very unique way to “translate†English terms does not help.
So last weekend I managed to go to set of Neolithic tombs much like the Stonehenge only a lot older. They were built at a time earlier than the pyramids. It is almost unfathomable that 15 tons stones could be moved by people over hill sides to build such precise structures that every year at the time of the winder solstice the sun directly shines in. There is a theory that says that there was a ancient civilization that was very advanced and somehow their knowledge got lost and the pyramids in Giza, Central America, Stonehenge are actually older than conventional wisdom. Anyway, it was put forward in “Fingerprints of the Gods†and after visiting that site over the weekend. I think that there may be some truth in that. Because it defies logical thinking.
Anyway, It has been almost a year since I moved and changed my job and I still cannot believe that Thanksgiving is so close by. A lot has transpired in this year, both on personal and professional fronts and this year has been full of ups and downs. I was clearing out my server and archiving some old things and came across a quote I had used in a completely different context that pretty much sums up this time:
“As humans our greatness lies not so much in remaking the world but in remaking ourselves.â€
